Energy savings to operate buildings, which energy efficiency allows is a relevant and provable fact. The idea was first handled by civil engineers, pulling the agenda of sustainability on a territory, where architects don’t want to enter. Those few pioneers of sustainable architecture are often put in comparison with professionals, which indeed offer an esthetic parameter, which is, however, often based on instant ephemeral experience. Concurrent building requirements request of architects to step out of their comfort zone and search for a new inspiration.

Even in this year we continue in a unconventional conference format.
The motivation is to find a way, which will bring us back to our roots. The debate and search for solutions of sustainability in architecture, particularly energy efficiency of buildings, still remains the primary goal. The duel called “Kind teasing”, where the architects critically discuss about their works, has proved in the previous year that it was a successful attempt and an opportunity  to show that we can and want to hold a discussion. On stage, separate topics will accompany moderated debates of speakers and guests. With the help of application, it will be possible for participants to contribute to the exchange of (onstage) arguments.

We invite you to the conference. It will be once again different, not only because of the narrow fixation of the target group, which are specially architects, but also with its script-written format. It will be extraordinary.
It is for those, who would like to discuss, but also for those, who are willing to listen.

Ľubica Šimkovicová, DI, Passive House Institute Slovakia
Luba has been involved in the popularization of sustainable architecture since 2005. This year she co-founded Passive House Institute Slovakia (iEPD). Since the beginning she has been in the management of the Institute, and since 2013 she has been Executive Director. She has led several international projects that have focused on the development of passive and energy-efficient buildings in Slovakia as well as integrated design. She graduated at Slovak University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Her hobbies include architecture, fine arts and jazz music.

Palo Pokorný, chartered architect, Pokorny architekti
After 15 years of architectural practice, Pało decided to radically change his approach to design. Since 2009, he has been designing his projects exclusively in an ultra-low-energy and passive house standard. A wide range of buildings can be found in the portfolio of its architectural office, from interiors to industrial factories; from exhibition expositions to administrative buildings. Recently, he has specialized in family houses and timber construction buildings with success in both the domestic and international architectural scene.
